INTRODUCTION

The program of the event Passion for Knowledge will also include 4 scientific workshops. Each of the scientific workshops will focus into one of the main subjects of research in the DIPC. Scientific topics for the workshops are as follows:

• Passion for Electrons: Advances in ultrafast dynamics, attosecond physics, electronic excitations in solids, nanostructures and other low-dimensional systems.
• Passion for Interfaces: Unraveling fundamental aspects of the scattering and reactivity of atoms and molecules at interfaces, electronic properties of thin films and adsorbates, self-assembling and surface functionalization.
• Passion for Soft Matter: Presenting state-of-the-art experiments and theoretical advances in the fields of soft matter (polymers, colloids, amphiphiles, biomaterials and composites).
• Passion for Photons: Addressing fundamental and applied aspects of nanoscale optics.

The 4 workshops will take place from September 28^th to September 30^th, except from Passion for Photons that will be held from September 29^th to October 1^st. Morning and afternoon sessions will include parallel sessions for each one of the workshops with independent scientific programs. Both invited lectures and oral contributions are programmed.

In addition to that, there will be common activities among the 4 workshops:

• Four keynote lectures will be common to all workshops.
• Poster sessions are planned in the afternoons. The facility for the poster sessions will be unique, common to al workshops, although the posters will be grouped by scientific criteria.
• Coffee breaks and lunches will be shared.

IMPORTANT: The 4 workshops are integrated in the same event, namely, Passion for Knowledge. It means that participants are free to attend any scientific talk from any of the workshops, independently on the particular one in which they initially register.
